Burning Tree plays reggae -- That's what we do -- and we've been doing it all over Florida and the rest of the 'States since 2004. We've had a blast these past eight years traveling around getting to know some awesome groups like Passafire, The Supervillains, SOJA, Mike Pinto, Part One Tribe, Meet Me at the Pub, Less Than Jake, Ballyhoo and a bunch of other great dudes.
The band began in St. Pete, Florida sometime in early 2004 after a previous project that included most of the members ceased to be. Dave Rothe (Lead Guitar/Vocals), formerly a trumpet player in the previous project, expressed interest in forming a new group as it's front man. Frank Meza (Drums) and Mike Fratone (Bass) agreed to continue on with the new project and the first incarnation of the band came to be. Soon after, Mike approached former Kill Joy Kids guitarist Tommy Slade about joining the group and he accepted.
During these years, we traveled our home state of Florida making a name for ourselves wherever we could. We eventually got enough recognition to get on Warped Tour when it came to our home town. After a few years of writing material, we decided to take a shot at recording our first E.P. which would eventually become the "Oppressive Heat" E.P. It was at this point that Tommy Slade decided to part ways with the group.
After auditioning a few guitarists (including Chris Powers of Hip Abduction and formerly of Mike Pinto's band), Burning Tree found Mark Georgieff, a death metal guitarist with a killer ear. After only a few weeks of learning the material, Burning Tree was back in full swing. After playing a few shows, we brought Mark into the studio to finish our E.P.
Since then, we've been all around the country meeting new people and playing songs for them. We've been featured on TV shows and even worked with 7/11 to promote Slurpee. It's been one hell of a ride and it's far from over. Look forward to new music and more tours! Hasta luego, friends!
